James J. “Jimbo” Hayes, 52, of Jordan, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011 at home. Born in Syracuse on Tuesday, Aug., 11, 1959, he was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area.
Jim retired in 2007 after 29 years with Camillus Cutlery and most recently worked with McQuay International in Auburn for the last two years. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Syracuse. He loved sports, especially the Giants and Mets and enjoyed golfing and cooking.
Jim was predeceased by his father, James J. Hayes in 1979; and mother, Olive Edna Skay Hayes on 12/15/2006.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, the former Linda Greene; son, LCPL James J. Hayes II stationed in Cherry Point, North Carolina; daughter, Ashley L. Hayes of Syracuse; brothers, Rev. Dennis J. Hayes of Marietta and David J. (Larry) Hayes of Deerfield Beach, Florida; granddaughter, Gracie Lynn; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Donald Greene; sister-in-law, Sharon (Michael) Hill-Jordan; brother-in-law, Bryan (Nancy) Greene; niece, Michele Hill; nephew, William Hill III; and step-nephews, Craig and Corey Jordan.
Relatives and friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct., 28, at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Rev. Dennis J. Hayes and Rev. John P. Fenlon celebrated a funeral Mass for Father Hayes’s brother at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, in St. Patrick's Church. Burial was private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to St. Patrick's Church, 216 No. Lowell Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204. Please view the James J.
