Robert R. Dumas, 87 of Cazenovia passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at his home. Born in Ormstown, Canada, Bob has been a resident of Cazenovia since 1964. Prior to retirement, Bob was a self-employed drywall contractor in the Cazenovia area. Bob was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of WW II serving in the European Theater where he received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a 65-year member of the Cazenovia American Legion Post 88, where he was named District Legionnaire of the year in 2010 and a life member of the Cazenovia VFW Post 113. Bob was a communicant of St. James Church in Cazenovia. He was an avid bowler and fisherman.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Irene and his son Robert R. Dumas, Jr., Surviving are his daughter, Deborah Williams of Forest Grove, Oregon, three grandchildren, Summer Carrion, Michael Williams and Robert Dumas III, four great-grandchildren and a cousin, Linda Walton of West Amboy. A funeral mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at St. James Church, Cazenovia. Entombment with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. Calling hours: 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the Ayer & Zimmer Funeral Home, 38 Sullivan St. Cazenovia.
