Richard A. Piper, 76, of Elbridge died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at the Francis House. Born in Utica, Richard lived in Camillus before moving to Elbridge. His wife Dolores died in 2010. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. At one time Richard was employed at GE in Syracuse and later he became an optician. He was an avid reader who especially enjoyed American history and politics.
Surviving are a son Jason (Amanda) Piper of Elbridge, a daughter Joanna (Robert) Young of Fulton, a brother Frank Piper of Syracuse, a sister Doris Piper of Vernon, and five grandchildren.
A graveside service in the spring will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Jordan at a date to be announced. Contribution may be made to SPCA of CNY or Francis House. The Bush Funeral Home of Elbridge has charge of arrangements.
