Milia Dayeh, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at Crouse Hospital. Born in Jaffa, Palestine, on Monday, July 14, 1924, she was the daughter of Wadeeh Zabaneh and Zakieh Abu-Manneh Zabaneh. She moved to the United States in 1978. Milia was an active member of St. Elias Orthodox Church. She loved her neighbors and enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting and gardening. She was a devoted and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She gave so much love to her family and took great pride in their successes and accomplishments. She enjoyed the holidays and spending time with her family. She was a selfless person.
Milia was predeceased by her husband, Shukri Dayeh; and sisters, Hayat Zabaneh and Suhaila Zakkak.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Suleiman and Nancy Dayeh of Onondaga Hill, and Nael and Lana Dayeh of Canton, Ohio; daughters and sons-in-law, Nazer Awwad of Liverpool, Nuha and Elia Sousou, Nadia and Fayez Abu-Manneh, Salwa and Rajeh Makhlouf, Suad and Nabil Jabaji, Layla and Salim Fashho, and Mary and Elias Sawalha, all of Baldwinsville; sisters, Germaine Saba and Aida Madbak, both of Jaffa, Israel; 28 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at St. Elias Orthodox Church, 4988 Onondaga Road, Syracuse. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at St. Elias Orthodox Church with the Very Reverend Elias Nasr officiating. Milia was laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
