Sharon L. Wheeler

Sharon L. Wheeler, 67, of Liverpool, passed away at her home early Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 2011, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Syracuse, Sharon was a retired employee of Packaging Corp. of America in Liverpool. She was a longtime member of the Pulaski Puritan Chapter #159 Order of the Eastern Star, and Morningstar Chapter #289 Order of the Eastern Star in Marcellus. Sharon sang with the Mario DeSantis orchestra and was an avid gardener, especially taking care of her roses. She was also an avid NASCAR fan and always enjoyed attending DIRT week at the fairgrounds. Sharon devoted her life to helping other people, and was a caregiver and guardian angel to her son, David after his accident in 1990.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen Stewart of Chittenango; David Stewart of Liverpool; her 94-year-old mother, Anne McDemic, of Liverpool; sister and brother-in-law, Myrna and Ted Evans of Camillus; a niece; several nephews and cousins. The family would also like to acknowledge Shawn Williamson and her family for their loving care and friendship to Sharon.
Calling hours: from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St., Liverpool.
