Anne Frances O’Brien, 81 of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011. She was born in Syracuse, a daughter of the late Earl and Genevieve (Mooney) O’Brien. Anne was a graduate of Syracuse University, and continued her education in Buffalo receiving her master’s degree. Ms. O’Brien retired in 1985 after over 30 years with the Onondaga County Department of Social Services as a supervisor for adoptions. Anne was an avid bridge player obtaining Life Master Status with the Syracuse Contract Bridge Club. She enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends, and loved to host parties. Anne was care free and loved to spend her summers in Skaneateles and traveled to Florida for the winter months. She was also a Syracuse University sports enthusiast. She is predeceased by her brother, William Joseph O’Brienand brother –in-law, Stephen R. Furcinito.
Surviving are her sister, Martha J. Furcinito of Baldwinsville, three nephews, Stephen (Nancy) Furcinito, Michael (Lori) Furcinito both of Baldwinsville, and Paul (Alison) Furcinito of Duxbury, MA. Also surviving are many great nieces and great nephews.
Calling hours: 8:15 to 10:15 a.m. will be held on Tuesday morning, Dec. 13, from at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners 3541 Rte. 31, Baldwinsville with a mass of Christian burial to follow at 11 a.m. in Pope John XXIII Catholic Church, 8290 Soule Road, Liverpool. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities, Adoption Services, 1654 W. Onondaga Street, Syracuse, NY 13204.
