George T. Culkin

George T. Culkin, 64, of East Syracuse, entered unto rest Dec. 3, 2011, at the Veterans Home in Oxford. He was a graduate of East Syracuse-Minoa High School and retired from Conrail. George was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Army from 1966 to 1968 and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the East Syracuse American Legion, the Collamer VFW and communicant of St. Matthew’s Church, East Syracuse. He was an avid Yankee and NASCAR fan and liked to hunt and fish.
Survivors: his daughter, Danielle of Syracuse; granddaughter, Angelina Melfi; sister, Elizabeth (Gary) Jones of East Syracuse; three brothers, John Culkin and James (Denise) Culkin both of East Syracuse and Jerry (Carol) Culkin of Pleasant Valley; six nieces and nephews, 16 cousins, two aunts and two uncles.
Services: 8:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Russell H. Schepp Minoa Chapel and 9 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Church. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at the funeral home, 109 East Ave., Minoa.
