Gerald F. VanDerWater, 85, of North Syracuse, formerly of Jordan and Weedsport, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, in St. Joseph's Hospital. A native of Syracuse, Gerald was a self-employed painter and interior decorator. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jordan and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Baldwinsville Lodge #646. He co-established the Eric Canal Parkway in the village of Jordan.
He was predeceased by a daughter Theresa VanDerWater. Surviving are his wife of 23 years , the former Dorotha Bartlett Weaver, his daughters Anna Marie Schaap, Linda (William) Scherz, Karen (Robert) Robinson, Patricia (Crandall) Tracey, Elizabeth (Harold) Fuller, Geralyn VanDerWater, and Judith (Paul) Lonergan, step children Rick Weaver, Joseph Weaver and Sandra Schaefer, his former wife Lenora VanDerWater, 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: 4:30 p.m. Saturday Aug. 6 in the First Baptist Church, 32 Clinton Street, Jordan. Calling hours: 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Route 5) Elbridge.
