Baldwinsville PAC-B, the public access cable channel 98 for Time Warner and channel 30 for Verizon FIOS, is available 24 hours a day to provide video and information of local interest. For the convenience of the public, the schedule of the next ten programs is aired on PAC-B TV at 9 a.m., noon, 3, 6 and 9 p.m. daily. The Baldwinsville Bulletin Board will air from midnight to 9 a.m. daily. For anyone that missed a program on TV, many of the programs are available on the internet. New pastor, building renovations coming to Delphi Falls United Church

Some major changes are coming to the Delphi Falls United Church, including a new pastor, building repairs and upgrades and the installation of an exterior lighting system for the first time in the church’s 200-year history.

St. Mark’s youth spend a night living like the homeless

‘Box Out’ aims to teach empathy for less fortunate

On a cold, rainy night last month, dozens of teens huddled in boxes outside of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Baldwinsville, trying to stay warm and dry. These teens, members of youth groups from five area Lutheran churches, were taking part in an effort to learn more about what it’s like to be homeless in hopes of raising awareness of conditions faced by those living on the streets. The event, called a “Box Out,” invited kids to spend the night in cardboard boxes of their own construction to experience a night much like that the chronically homeless would experience.

DeWittshire residents come out to remember neighbor

Howard Finck devoted much of his life to serving the community

Dozens of friends, family and neighbors of Howard Finck, who passed away Nov. 16 at age 91, turned out last week to participate in a memorial parade and celebration for the man whom many saw as a pillar in the community.

Eastside Vineyard Church helps those in need; produces Christmas movie

Those involved in children’s ministry at the Eastside Vineyard Church in DeWitt have been busy during the month of December, taking time to give back to those less fortunate, and even producing a Christmas movie titled “A Superhero Christmas,” which depicts the birth of Jesus with a modern twist.

Presbyterian Church to hold Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Thursday evening, Dec. 24, at 8 p.m. Elder Kevin Curtis will light the traditional Christ Candle in the middle of the advent wreath at the Cazenovia Presbyterian Church.

Service of Lessons and Carols for Season of Advent: Anticipation and Hope at Cazenovia Presbyterian Church

The First Presbyterian Church in Cazenovia will celebrate the third Sunday of the Advent Season at its morning worship service at 10 a.m. Dec. 13.

So, we survived the post-Thanksgiving gauntlet — Black Friday, Shop Local Saturday and Cyber Monday. The stress is pervasive, even without participating, since the the stores have been plastered with signs, the newspapers filled with ads, and the media broadcasting frenzy for weeks before; supposing you escaped being affected by the enervating environment, it is difficult to remain calm when everyone else is supercharged.

King of Kings to present ‘A Living Nativity: The Story of Christmas’

King of Kings Lutheran Church will once again present an outdoor “Living Nativity” pageant at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at the church, located at 8278 Oswego Road, Liverpool. This event is King of Kings’ Christmas gift to the community. Everyone is invited to attend this moving reenactment of the Christmas story ­— the birth of the infant Jesus as told in the Gospel of Luke.

Good Shepherd Youth serve Detroit with 30,000 other Lutherans

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Fayetteville sent 17 teens and four adults in July to the triennial ELCA Youth Gathering held in Detroit. The 2015 theme, Rise Up!, focused on faith, fellowship and service.

Local choirs combine for annual holiday music festival

Choir members and clergy from 12 local congregations will combine for a magnificent festival of Advent Lessons and Carols. The service, beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville, will feature various denominations readings the well-loved verses which foretell the coming of Christmas.
