Jephson Estate fundraiser to benefit CazCares

— On May 31, Hillcrest, Cazenovia’s historic Jephson Estate will host a cocktail party and silent auction from 5 to 7:30 p.m. to benefit CazCares, our local food pantry. Cazenovia-area residents will have the opportunity to tour the inside of Hillcrest thanks to the generosity of owners Brian and Linda Osborne.

“It’s going to be a fun evening as our guests tour the beautifully preserved interior of the Jephson Estate, and compete for some really spectacular silent auction items,” Gigi Redmond, CazCares director said. “The real benefit, however, will be that money raised will support Nourish Our Neighbors, the program that supplies much needed fresh vegetables to the food pantry.”

“Supplying freshly picked vegetables to our clients has always been a difficult task,” Redmond added, “but Nourish Our Neighbors gives us the chance to supply the absolute freshest vegetables available during the local growing season by buying from local CSA farms.”

The farms that currently partner with CazCares are Lucky Moon Farm owned by Claude and Sue Braun, Hartwood Farm owned by Matt Robinson and Maryellen Sheehan and Greyrock Farm owned by Matt Volz.

In addition to touring the mansion, guests also are invited to enjoy hors d’oeuvres, wine, locally brewed beer from Empire Brewery, and hard cider from Critz’s.

“That’s not all,” Redmond said. “There are wonderful items in the silent auction including a two-night stay in the Jephson Estate carriage house; a scenic aerial tour of Cazenovia in a 1947 Piper Cub; tuition to Cazenovia College’s summer theater program; and a half dozen one of a kind pieces created by local artists.”

The Board of CazCares is also using this opportunity to honor Gigi Redmond who has served as their Director for the past 10 years. Gigi provides a consistent and welcoming presence for the families that turn to CazCares for assistance. She manages the active food pantry that on average has 175 families each month and also coordinates a roster of 80 volunteers.

Admission to the benefit is $50 per person, or $60 at the door. To reserve a spot, send a check payable to CazCares to Nancy Green, 101 Nelson St., Cazenovia, NY 13035.

For more information, contact Green at 247-6716. The street address of the Jephson Estate is 4571 Ridge Road, Cazenovia.
