Cicero announces new businesses

— It must be Cicero because we continue to be blessed with an attraction for new and expanding businesses. Some have recently opened and others are slated to open in the very near future or later this year. A recent addition is Empire Tractor, located on East Crabtree Lane. This is a small tractor business selling Kubota lawn tractors and other related equipment. Another recent opening is The Meadows, located at the intersection of Route 31 and Lakeshore Drive (formerly the site of Dunkin’ Donuts). This is a custard and frozen yogurt shop, with a drive-through, walk up window, and inside seating. Coffee will also be served starting at 5:30 a.m. The Meadows is a franchise operation with its headquarters in Pennsylvania. The Meadows in Cicero is the franchise’s first store in New York state.

Another business recently approved by the town planning board is Admar, an equipment rental company. It will establish on the east side of Brewerton Road between Circle Drive and Bear Road. This is the old site of the former Sam Dell auto dealership and the Lucien’s night club after that. Admar hopes to be in place sometime late this summer.

Panda Express, a gourmet Chinese fast food franchise, is planning to open a restaurant on Brewerton Road, next door to the First Niagara Bank, on a parcel located directly in front of Wegmans. This will be the first stand-alone Panda Express in New York state.

A Goodwill retail store of approximately 24,000 square feet is also in the works for a site off Brewerton Road at Caughdenoy Road behind Citizens Bank and the Hess gas station. Goodwill is shifting its emphasis from used household items and clothing to retail of household goods, although they will still accept and process used goods and clothing. This will be the second Goodwill store in the Syracuse area.

Other new or expanding businesses which have recently obtained planning board approval or are in the approval process include the A&P boat marina on Oneida Lake at West Murray Drive Oneida Lake (new building to service and store boats, and a small marine store); a new Hyundai auto dealership off Hogan Drive to be constructed at Burdick’s Drivers Village; and a new 7200 square foot storage facility to be constructed by Preferred Power Sports, located on 8932 Brewerton Road.

Please contact the town should anyone have additional questions or want additional information.
