To the editor:
Thank you for highlighting the new Chittenango Creek fishing access in your most recent issue of the Cazenovia Republican. The cooperation of so many local agencies and people to make this a reality is very much appreciated by those of us who enjoy the sport of fishing.
But isn’t it a shame that, as of January 2014, fishing licenses can no longer be purchased at the town offices in Cazenovia? I think people need to know that before heading out fish, make sure to first visit Nelson, DeRuyter or some other village that supports the local sportsman or woman with this needed service.
And folks should be aware the state has altered the sporting license system to make it significantly harder to use. I watched a patient and helpful clerk in a nearby town struggle with it for 30 minutes until we both gave up. It’s very frustrating to have our town and state governments make jumping through hoops a necessary prelude to using the resources at hand.
