To the editor:
Beautiful! Touching! Sweeter than Broadway because it’s our kids in our hometown!
Mickey Kringer … you’ve done it again. The high school production of “The Secret Garden” was so superb that one would swear you were attending a professional production. Congratulations to Mickey, the cast, the orchestra and the backstage crew. And, thank you for a wonderful Sunday afternoon.
I would be remiss to not acknowledge the leading performances. Jeffrey Kringer provided us with a heartrending Archibald Craven. The remorse he portrayed over the loss of his love filled the air of the auditorium. And, his voice was a stand-out … especially when coupled with Matthew Payne (as Dr. Neville Craven) or Phoebe Glowacki (as Lily Craven). Ben Kringer had such stage presence for a young lad. He was totally believable as the “master in charge” in his father’s absence. And, Maddie VanRiper (as Mary Lennox) was absolutely fantastic! Her talents are endless. This young lady can sing, dance and act. With impeccable timing, she had the audience in the palm of her hand. Extraordinary!
Mickey’s management team of Mary Jo Clary, Anna Egert, Pam Spear and Maureen VanVechten should also be highlighted. Wow! The acting, singing, costumes and the orchestra were all standouts.
Mickey, I just hope you understand what an incredible gift you give to this community. These kids will never forget the experiences you’ve made possible for them. For many, it can be life-changing. Thank you for sharing your incredible talents … with the kids and the community!
