As Willy begins his inevitable descent, the lines between past and present, reality and unreality begin to blur. Miller’s dialogue brings the family skeletons back to life even as death knocks on the Lomans’ door. Sometimes a smile and a shoeshine are just not enough to make some salesmen a success.
