LETTER: Victory Sports medical and sports facility — a community update

The Planning Board asked Mr. Bernstein if VSM was going to withdraw its applications. Mr. Bernstein replied by stating that if VSM was successful in the town of Sennett, they might then withdraw the applications.

The Planning Board then approved a six-month extension for an update and response with respect to the existing applications.

The existing application with the Planning Board is for the construction of a medical and sports complex consisting of a 61,000 square foot medical facility including multiple physicians, ambulatory surgery center and urgent care, a 177,000 square foot indoor sports facility including basketball courts, volleyball courts, soccer/lacrosse fields and an athletic performance training center for high school, college and professional athletes and 13 multi-use outdoor fields with lights.

An application also exists with the Zoning Board of Appeals to request a variance for seventeen 70-90 foot lights which exceed the current code allowing a maximum height of 20 feet.

Many concerned citizens of the community have asked me if this proposed development is something of the past. As long as the applications are pending, the proposed development remains a threat to our community. We will continue to closely monitor this matter and provide updates.
