Three candidates vie for two seats on Minoa Village Board

— Why are you running for office?

To continue to make a difference. I have lived in this village since I was 8 years old and my wife and I have raised two wonderful young men here. As deputy mayor, I want to continue to help our village grow and prosper. We have a great community with a lot of challenges ahead of us. Through hard work and dedication, I have made a difference and will continue to have Minoa be a great place to live and raise a family.

Why are you the best candidate for this office?

Leadership, experience and dedication. Operating our village is serious business and we need people that have the experience that I possess. I have been involved in our community for more than 25 consecutive years, most of it as a volunteer. I was involved with ESM Youth Sports and the ESM Sports Booster Club for more than 15 years. I served eight years as a volunteer on the board of the East Area YMCA.

I served the village of Minoa as acting justice for ten years, a trustee for 12 years and ten of those years as deputy mayor. I have been involved with our community and understand the local level of government. My experience provides the necessary background and a sense of what our community is all about.

I know what a great community we have, and I have worked very hard not to raise our village taxes, while simultaneously making improvements and maintaining the same excellent level of service we’ve all come to expect.

Also, the relationships I have built at the county and state level have helped our village in receiving funding to help offset the unfunded mandates that we face each year.

What are the major issues facing the village and what will you do to address them?
