Library Focus: Summer storytimes begin June 30

School’s out for summer, but don’t panic! We have lots of things to keep the kids busy and more than a few things for the rest of us.

Sign up for summer reading prizes

Kids edition: You’re going to be reading anyway so join up with our summer reading games to share the fun and prizes. Kids from age 3 up to those entering fifth grade in the fall can sign up for Fizz boom Read at the Children’s Desk beginning Monday, June 23. Preschoolers to third-graders will still be getting weekly prizes but fourth- and fifth-graders will be earning tickets for our program end basket raffle with great prizes including Lego products, a six pack of Disney movies and a Nook. In addition, only kids registered for summer reading are eligible to attend our special Monday afternoon programs including Zoo to You and a Visit from the MOST.

Teens + Adults: Foster some healthy habits by joining your teens (sixth grade and up) in our Spark a Reaction Make Your Summer program. No need for weekly visits because we play the game online (sign up at bville.lib.ny.us) so you can report from anywhere at any time. Read and review five books and you earn a jump drive for storing and transporting computer files but logging even one gets you in the pool for weekly prize drawings. You can also earn badges to post on your social media or even attach to your resume.

How to find car and home repair info online

Bob will show you how to find articles, instructions, and videos on the web about things like how to change the oil in your car, how to change the o-rings in a faucet, basement sealing, and more on Wednesday, June 25 at 1:30 p.m. Registration is required.
