The Half Moon Bakery & Bistro graciously hosted the second annual Jamesville-DeWitt Ecumenical Food Pantry’s volunteer recognition event on Sunday, Feb. 16. Pantry volunteers and their guests enjoyed a variety of delicious desserts and each other’s company.

After a brief welcome by Linda Hevner, the pantry coordinator, Maureen McManus, president of the pantry’s board of directors, thanked the volunteers for their work and presented Tony Ebersole with the 2013 Volunteer of The Year award to recognize his significant contributions. The Pantry relies on volunteers to assist client families with their food choices, and safely and attractively stock the food pantry supplies.

“As a member of the community, we are pleased that we could offer the J-D Ecumenical Food Pantry a place to gather for their event,” said Half Moon Café & Bistro owner Debbe Titus. We appreciate all that the food pantry does for our community and it is a way for us to thank you for their hard work.”

The J-D Ecumenical Food Pantry, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt charity, located at 6486 E. Seneca Turnpike in Jamesville, has been recognized as one of the best food pantries in the US. In 2013, the J-D Ecumenical Food Pantry provided 2,158 individuals with food for 18,158 meals, a 21.5 percent increase over 2012. This has been possible only by the support of pantry’s sponsoring churches, the Food Bank of Central New York and the generosity of the Jamesville and DeWitt communities.
