Free income tax service for residents of Madison County 60 years and older

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County will again provide free tax assistance to those 60 years of age and older residing in Madison County; at this time individuals under 60 years old cannot be taken.

The program began Feb. 1 and will end April 15. All tax counselors have been trained and certified. They will be available to assist seniors in preparing and submitting their Federal and NYS tax forms for the 2013 tax season. The IRS has limited the scope of the returns that volunteers are allowed to prepare; anyone claiming losses due to the flooding this past summer will not qualify for this service.

There are two walk-in sites available: from 9 a.m. until noon, Tuesdays and Thursdays, at Oneida Public Library, and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays at Canastota Public Library.
