continued Owera’s 2012 Chardonnay is its second vintage of the popular varietal to win a national competition medal. Its 2010 Chardonnay received a gold medal at the 2012 New York Food and Wine Classic.
Owera’s 2012 Chardonnay is described as a blend of barrel and stainless steel fermented Chardonnay that “features toasty aromas, a rich mouthful and flavors of pineapple, vanilla and coconut.”
Muserlian said Owera has increased its wine production during the past year with the addition of five larger capacity tanks and a more efficient chilling system to aid in cold stabilization and temperature control during the fermentation stage of its wines.
“Given the cold temperatures in Cazenovia, our cold-hardy varieties are thriving,” she said. “Our wine production team continues to work to produce great vintages.”
The winery currently is working on plans to showcase its wines at several festivals in the state as well as the New York State Fair.
Owera wines are currently available in restaurants and wine shops across the region.
Owera Vineyards, which has been closed for the winter, will reopen its tasting room doors to the public Wednesday, March 5, and is looking forward to a great season, Muserlian said.
