To the editor:
The Skaneateles Sunrise Rotary Club would like to thank the community for turning out to celebrate with us during our “Winterfest” celebration. We were thrilled to have so many people brave the cold winter elements and enjoy our lineup of activities. From the Friday night ice burn, to the Taste of Skaneateles, the beautiful ice sculptures, the scavenger hunt, to the rockin’ party at the Garage Eatz, there was plenty to do and plenty to celebrate. Who can forget the annual Polar Bear Plunge?
We wish to thank everyone who participated by purchasing an ice sculpture, providing food samples or by sponsoring or donating to our various charities. Winterfest is our main fundraiser for the year, and we are grateful for all of the support. A large portion of the money raised goes to local charities right here at home, the food pantry, SAVES, the fire department and the Skaneateles Education foundation to name a few. We extend a special thank you to the local Polar Bear Club and its many volunteers.
I want to thank Candy Searing, Tom Seeley, John Paddock and the entire Skaneateles Sunrise Rotary team for all of their hard work leading up to the event. I would also wish to thank the evening Rotary club and the schools Interact club for helping out on the day of the event. Our belief is that if we must endure the harsh Central New York winters than we might as well go out and have fun with them as well! I would encourage anyone who may be interested in Rotary to join us for breakfast and fellowship at the Hilltop Restaurant at 7 a.m. every Thursday morning.
