Along the Lakeshore: Bird watching; our local animal shelter

The facility is well maintained and seems to have a dedicated core of workers. Unfortunately, they have no more room for cats, pregnant cats or kittens. They need a lot of folks to make lifetime homes for these felines.

After Ahmi died in 2007, I spent Friday afternoons walking dogs at the shelter. It was good exercise for me and was good socialization for the dogs. If I ever consider a new dog, it will be from a rescue shelter, as I think they make the best companions. At my age, I would look for a dog with a few miles on his pads so that maybe we could move through the rest of our lives together.
