Cooper Pitman gave Skaneateles yet another fifth-place effort at 220 pounds, pinning Keith Hendrix (Cato-Meridian) in seven seconds for that spot. Pat Greenfield (182 pounds) finished sixth.
To warm up for the league meet, Skaneateles met Syracuse’s Institute of Technology Central last Wednesday night, and had little trouble putting together a 57-20 victory over the Eagles to improve its team mark to 19-3, a team record for victories in a season.
After forfeits to J.W. Simmons (99) and Nevan Rourke (106), Collier wrestled and pinned Ashanti Gethers in 3:17. A tough 120-pound bout followed, with Joey Brillo edging Egal Agdan 6-3.
At 132, Josh Brillo pinned Naseem Fielder 28 seconds into the third period. Janes claimed a forfeit as Newton took 1:23 to pin Deondre Paul and Goetzmann held off Muppenzi Kabera 6-4.
Skaneateles closed out the meet with three straight wins, as Greenfield beat Nahjir Dean 7-1 and Gray pinned Charles Hunter in 3:07 before a forfeit to Pitman.
And now with the league meet and regular season behind them, Skaneateles would head north, to General Brown High School in Dexter (home of the newly-crowned Section III Dual Meet champions), to compete in Saturday’s sectional Class C meet.
The top four finishers in each weight class advance to the Feb. 15 sectional Division II championships at SRC Arena.
