Right after, Jusin Cox got his own pin at 195 pounds, finishing off Kenneth Stevens with 29 seconds left in their bout, while Casey Placito (220 pounds) had to go the full six minutes for a 9-4 decision over Jonathan Bouck.
That put the Bears in front 19-18, but it had to forfeit two of the next three bouts, and that, plus a pin by Theo Powers (106 pounds) over Cooper Young, put the Tigers ahead for good.
Alex Miller (120 pounds) began a brief comeback, pinning Brent Sawyer in 3:14, while Wyatt Blanding (126 pounds) took just 1:25 to pin Tylor Allard. But Connor Fredericks (132 pounds) fell, 5-2, to Mitch Shambo, which clinched Mexico’s win.
As Chittenango heads to Vernon-Verona-Sherrill for this Saturday’s Section III Class B meet, Cazenovia goes to north, to General Brown (home of the reigning sectional Dual Meet champions), for the Class C sectional championships.
