— On Monday evening, Aug. 11, Cazenovia American Legion Post 88 held an informal picnic at the Post home to honor the area’s remaining veterans of World War II.

After coordinating with New Woodstock American Legion Post 1572 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 113, it was determined that there were 12 World War II veterans from the Cazenovia area. Of these 12, six were able to attend the picnic. The gathering of about 60 enjoyed a fine meal of the usual picnic fare, followed by a memorial for our departed comrades including the playing of “Taps.” That was followed by the introduction of the World War II veterans and some very interesting and informative reminiscing by the veterans.

The evening was concluded with ice cream and a cake decorated with “Thank You for Your Service.”
