Cazenovia It may still be August, but CazCares is well into its annual drive to gather school supplies for students lacking even the basics when they head back to school in September.
Donations can be dropped off from 9:30 a.m. to noon every Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays at CazCares’ headquarters at 101 Nelson St., according to Gigi Redmond, the organization’s director. Those who want to make arrangements to drop off things at another time may call 655-3174.
“Every summer we collect and distribute school supplies to the families of children who otherwise would not have the items they need,” Redmond said. “The need is more than you’d suspect.”
Redmond said backpacks, “both new and ‘gently’ used,” were a primary need. Also in demand are pen, pencils, erasers, crayons, glue sticks, markers, colored pencils, notebooks, colored folders, large spiral notebooks, composition notebooks and three-ring binders.
“When you do your back-to-school shopping,” Redmond said, “please think of CazCares and the many young students who rely on your generosity,”
