Skaneateles chamber seeks new executive director

The Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking a new executive director as current Executive Director Susan Dove steps down from the position she has held for 17 years. Dove is beginning a new chapter of her career with the acquisition of the former Colonial Motel, to be launched in June as “Skaneateles Inn on 20.”

“We’ll miss Sue’s contribution to the chamber, probably more than we even realize,” said Sarah Wiles, longtime colleague and chamber board member. “But we’re all so excited for her and wish her the very best! At the same time, we are looking forward to welcoming the next director to this challenging and rewarding position.”

According to the search committee chair, Chamber President Tom Grant, the new executive director will be responsible for promoting all member businesses in the Skaneateles area and creating positive working relationships with all the entities that affect local business and the Skaneateles community.

“It will be close to impossible to replace Sue; she has set a very high standard over the past 17 years,” said Grant. “We’re looking for someone with excellent communication and organizational skills, ability to multi-task, excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly and outgoing personality. Familiarity with the region, tourism industry and local government policymaking will also be very helpful.”
