WG boys lacrosse rallies, beats J-D

Second-half surge delivers crucial win for Wildcats

— McDonald cut the deficit to 9-8 with 8:32 to play, the first of four consecutive goals WG would score in taking the lead and securing the victory. Matt Milne, David Procopio (who had missed the loss to Fairport) and Tyler Brown all found the net in the game’s homestretch.

McDonald finished with three goals and one assist, while Brown matched McDonald's point total thanks to two goals and two assists. J-D’s Ryan Durkin and Griffin Johnson both had three goals and one assist.

Some may argue a non-league win has little meaning, but this game served to settle down a WG team that was a little off following the Fairport loss.

“We lost our moxie,” Messere said. “We’ve been struggling to get it back, and I think today showed that we can do this and we can get back to where we need to be.”
