— Schepp Family Funeral Homes is proud to announce the welcome of two new directors. Katherine Velasco and Kurt Benedict have joined the funeral homes as licensed funeral directors. Velasco and Benedict both graduated from Simmons Institute of Mortuary Science in Syracuse where they both received a bachelor’s degree in funeral service. Both served their residency locally and were issued their New York State licenses in March of 2014.

Benedict is a native of Rome and recently moved to Syracuse. He graduated from Rome Catholic High School and is an Army veteran. Velasco is a native of Cazenovia and resides there with her fiancée Christopher. She graduated from Cazenovia High School and John Jay College in Manhattan, where she received a degree in forensic science before attending Simmons. Both Benedict and Velasco are excited to serve the families in this community.

Benedict and Velascoi join the current directors, Tom and Erich Schepp and Mike Small, who serve families from their three locations; Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel and R. H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel. All three modern facilities serve families that choose either traditional burial or cremation.
