No good movies playing? No way! Check out your local arts cinema

— Cornell Cinema also screens a wide array of films, with a schedule that rotates nightly. I recently saw there the Oscar nominated Francis Ford Coppola movie ‘A Conversation’ (1974), starring Gene Hackman. I had never heard of this movie before I saw it, and was pleasantly surprised by how relevant and interesting it still is forty years later.

Sometimes a film unknown to you can take you on a surprising journey. When you don’t know what to expect you’re more open to what actually comes your way. I encourage all movie lovers to take a chance on films they may not have heard of yet, and remember that high quality movies playing in the theater are easy to find if you look in the right places.

Check out your local independent arts theaters for the best of what cinema has to offer, from around the world and all year round. We’re fortunate to have that option so close to home!
