In the eyes of the state is this consolidation the way they look at it?
Will this project qualify for grant money?
What will be the increase in town taxes?
If I were still on the town board, these are some of the questions that would have to be addressed before I could make a rational decision.
No matter what decision is made, the one thing that stands out is that this issue should have been addressed before the village renovation. The police department, if included, could have been located on one end of the building or the other. The village and town governments could have shared a common reception area, meeting rooms, some planning and legal services, office equipment, etc. This would have been true consolidation.
