To the editor:
This letter is written in response to Francis Murphy’s letter in the Oct. 16 issue of the Press titled “Sennett as supervisor could be conflict of interest.” The letter asserted that as a village resident I would have a conflict of interest by serving on the town board. Please remember that our current Supervisor, Terri Roney, is a village resident and our former supervisor, Charlie Major, was also a village resident at the time of his service.
From reading the letter, it was unclear as to whether Mr. Murphy thought I would be serving on both the town and village boards. As this paper has pointed out, if elected to the town board, I would resign my position on the village board. My attention and time would be spent focused on the duties and responsibilities of the town supervisor.
As for negotiating contracts with the village, Mayor Hubbard and I may not always see eye-to-eye, but we do have a good working relationship. The town would be well served by entering negotiations with both parties having the respect of the other. Your worries, Mr. Murphy, are unfounded.
