LETTER: Response to letters about incumbent candidates

Do the voters want a town government that discusses matters in private, makes decisions and then tells the public; or do they want one that debates the issues, follows the law and makes important decisions after public dialogue? Over the past few years since the supervisor candidate has been on the village board, the village has refused to consider any consolidation of services with water, code enforcement and other government functions; not even a dialogue. Is this the type of “my way or no way” government that the town’s taxpayers want? The town board has kept tax increases minimal while maintaining a high level of services despite escalating costs by working cooperatively with its employees. Isn’t this a much better approach than the brash, in-your-face style that the village has put forth with the dispatchers, fire department and others? The voters have a clear choice. There are times when we need to throw the bums out of office, but the opposition this year is just giving the town voters the bum’s rush when it comes to the facts.
