To the editor:
Manlius resident and Democrat Committee member Larissa Brenner wrote a letter to the editor in the Oct. 23 edition (“Missing money in Manlius”) that I feel needs clarification.
Mrs. Brenner asks about the money "missing" from town hall. The money is not missing, it was stolen. There is a big difference between the two. This particular question has been raised before during this campaign by her candidate for town supervisor. I really hope that this is not being brought up in an attempt to exploit a crime committed against the town for political gain.
What troubles me most about reading this letter to the editor is that the town board held its public hearing on the town budget this past Wednesday. These hearings are scheduled with public notice of where and when to give residents the opportunity to raise questions. If Mrs. Brenner and her candidate were genuinely looking for an answer, that meeting would have been the proper venue in which to raise and discuss it. Unfortunately, neither of these residents attended the hearing to ask any questions or raise any concerns.
I am sad to see this issue being exploited in this manner. I am confident that the residents of Manlius are wise enough to see through these unsupported media tactics.
