Benedict challenges Marsh in Pompey supervisor race

Why are you running for office?

My decision to run for town supervisor was a simple one -I care about the town and the community I live in! I feel the current administrator is not serving the community’s best interest and I feel that the people’s voice has been lost and leadership has stagnated. I have been fortunate to have been able to view the issues from both sides. I pride myself by “Saying what I mean and meaning what I say.” And I say it’s about the people, not politics as usual, that this town deserves. I say our voice needs to be heard! We the people should not expect, but demand more from our elected officials. I say we need transparency and open government for the people by the people.

My platform is simple: “It’s about people, not politics as usual.” As an innovative and creative manager, I work to get the job done, I am confident I will restore the people’s voice back to the town board where it belongs. Our town needs a leader who is motivated and dedicated, with the energy and willingness to be involved and take on the tough challenges facing us every day. I do not see this with the current leadership, but I do see a lot of double talk! That has to change.

Why are you the best candidate for this office?

I have always tried to be an active member of my community. Since moving here, I have served my community as a town peace officer, justice court officer and as a court clerk, as well as being appointed to the town’s Environmental Conservation Committee (ECC). While serving as chairmen of the ECC, I introduced new procedures which encouraged open discussion and interaction between each of the town boards, exchanging information as to better serve and communicate with the public. While I was chairman, the ECC was in charge of re-writing the town emergency response manual, which was adopted by the town board.
