LETTER: Becallo for town board

— LETTER: Becallo for town board

To the editor:

I am writing today to share why I am proud to support Mike Becallo for Cicero town council. While Mike and I see eye to eye on the basic concepts of liberty and community, my support for Mike stems from well beyond political ideology.

Having the privilege of working with Mike towards causes he believes in over the years, I am amazed at the energy and enthusiasm he approaches every day and every cause with. It’s the same energy that has allowed Mike to visit more than 2,000 of our neighbors homes over the last few months, to personally meet members of our community and talk about their concerns and vision for the future of the town. I know that Mike will bring that same energy to helping build our community as a member of the town council.

Mike is active in the community. He is a member of the Fire Department, and can be seen at many events to support our town and the various groups it calls home. Additionally, Mike has volunteered as a North Syracuse Education Foundation board member, Hurricane Katrina Red Cross volunteer, assisted the Salvation Army and Rescue Mission, been a Big Brother and volunteered at the Bridgeport Field Days. He truly cares about our town.

Mike takes the time to listen to concerns and opinions of everyone he meets. It may be one of his best qualities. It takes a special person to be able to truly listen to someone, make sure he understands their concerns, and to do their best to help that person find a solution. Mike has an incredible ability to do just that, and our community will be better because of it.

I see a bright future for Cicero with Mike Becallo as a member of the town council. It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I support him for Cicero town council. Mike chose to come back to our town after college so that he could do his part in helping our town grow and thrive. I hope my neighbors give him the opportunity to do just that, and cast their vote for Mike Becallo to serve our community.

Mike Harwood
