The following April, Emily requested her birthday party gifts would also be donated, also. Katie and James Blenn, Emily’s mother and father, are proud of their daughter’s generous actions. Commenting on his daughter’s birthday donations, When asked about what made them decide to give their presents to the children staying at Shriners Hospitals, Natalie said, “It just seemed like a nice thing to do. I know that if I was spending my birthday in the hospital, it would make me feel good to have a present from someone. I’m glad that I could make someone feel better on their birthday.”
Emily said, “Me too. It feels good doing something nice.”
Both Natalie and Emily hope that others will follow their example and donate gifts from their parties too.
“It is really easy, I just had my mom put on the invitation that the presents were going to kids in the hospital,” said Natalie.
