To the editor:
My name is Rhonda Richards. I am the business manager at Elmer Richards and Sons Dairy, located here in Skaneateles. I’m writing this editorial in support of Jim Greenfield for town supervisor.
Jim’s interest in our community goes well beyond his six years as a town board member. Before becoming a board member, Jim served on the Skaneateles Watershed Program Committee and the Agricultural Advisory Committee. Prior to the formation of these committees, Jim was always instrumental in organizing local individuals involved in agriculture to gather and discuss critical issues.
As a member of the town board, Jim has continued to consult with local agricultural businesses when researching issues concerning Skaneateles. Some of the more recent issues discussed have been drilling, the watershed, truck traffic and the town comprehensive plan and zoning laws. I believe that after these conversations, Jim has walked away educated and with a better understanding of the impact that these issues could have on our community.
During his years on the town board, I have always been impressed with Jim’s ability to be a team player, while maintaining a leadership role. He knows when to be an active listener and when to act. He knows when to compromise and when to draw the line. Jim’s business, Greenfield Farms, and the town of Skaneateles have both benefited from his no nonsense and practical approach to today’s economical and environmental issues. He approaches these issues head on and with fiscal and environmental responsibility.
Considering all the economical, environmental as well as local government issues facing our community today, I believe we need someone like Jim as our town supervisor. Jim’s only agenda here is what is best for the town of Skaneateles.
