But then in his closing statement, incumbent supervisor Webb Stevens made a strong case for his credentials, which also received a bit of applause.

This made me realize something: the people in attendance all care deeply about their community and were hanging on every word from these public officials to-be. Both candidates are respected community members and despite the Republicans having stronger numbers in the town, I think it will be a tight race.

When the Skaneateles candidates have a similar event on Oct. 30, I trust that this same level of respect, bipartisanism and community spirit will be on display.
