Six vie for three seats on DeWitt town board

Why are you the best candidate for this office?

My background in the business world as a C.P.A. and controller/CFO gives me the business acumen that would be a major asset to the DeWitt board from both a financial and operational perspective.

In addition to my professional interactions, my volunteer experience in youth sports also gives me the people skills necessary to deal with all types of people and issues. The positions on the following youth sports boards required financial expertise and people skills to get successful results. I was the president of J-D Little League, the treasurer of the J-D Little League board, the director of the first and second grade division of East Side Soccer association and the director of the third through eighth grade girls' basketball division of the J-D Youth Athletic Association (JDYAA), the treasurer of JDYAA and a coach in all these sports.

Finally, I throw myself wholeheartedly into all endeavors I take on. I will give 100 percent. No one will work harder for you.

What are the major issues facing the town and what will you do to address them?

In order to answer this question, I will list below the following issues that are mentioned to me out on the campaign trail:

1) “What are the plans for Shoppingtown Mall?” I plan on monitoring this process closely and making sure the plans of the new developer meet our needs to make Shoppingtown a viable community entity again.

2) “What is the status of new trails, sidewalks, and bike lanes?” I plan on working with our supervisor to move forward his initiative to build more sidewalks and bike lanes. This is important for the safety of our bikers, runners, walkers and children waiting for their buses.

3) “What are you going to do with the overgrown weeds that are growing all over many medians in our town?” Although these areas are the responsibility of the state DOT, I will work hard with our town highway department and our town manager to make sure the state DOT stays on top of this issue.
