To the editor:
Election season is upon us, so I would like to remind people to speak with their vote. I am a registered Republican, and voted along party lines during the last town election. However, I can’t in good conscience vote that way this year because Manlius is now too top-heavy with Republicans.
In my opinion, a one-party government sometimes promotes lackadaisical habits, leading to possible dictatorship tendencies. Unfortunately, all but one Republican candidate is running unopposed. The only contested race is for town supervisor—Democrat Mark Tetley is going up against incumbent Republican Edmond Theobald.
Tetley is fully qualified as he served successfully in that position from 2008 to 2010. He lost that office to Theobald by a very small margin, proving Tetley is an electable candidate this year. And he’s approachable. When I talked with him, he was open to any suggestions I had. Furthermore, I think Tetley in the supervisor position would provide better checks and balances for the town of Manlius government. Yes, Tetley will get my vote!
