LETTER: Sennett, Brace, Howard show concern for environment

To the editor:

As the Chair of the Skaneateles Democrats, our committee is proud to endorse the slate of Sennett, Brace and Howard as candidates for town board. We respect and support their issues-based campaign. Please let your voting friends know this team will represent us with action oriented leadership and critical stewardship of our vital resources.

Mary, Claire and Connie have always been actively and passionately involved in protecting our lake. Mary and Claire are members of the Skaneateles Lake Association, without which our lake would be under siege by invasive milfoil. The incumbents are not a part of this lake saving crusade. Claire served on the town’s Anti-hydrofracking committee, which after two years of relentless pressure on our town board, caused them to enact a ban on fracking in Skaneateles. Connie has demonstrated equal concern for our environment. As an architect, certified in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, she has contributed her professional skills and knowledge to the formation of Sustainable Skaneateles, an ad hoc group of residents committed to education and community building, focused on ways to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. She played a key role in the green conversion of the old fire station into our new village hall, the first net-zero facility in New York State. These candidates have clearly contributed to lake protection and environmental causes with their time, commitment and donations.
