LETTER: Read between the signs

To the editor:

Various political lawn signs have sprung up around the town and village. The obvious message is to vote for this candidate or that party. There is a marked contrast between the parties’ approaches to lawn signs that may be telling about an underlying style and approach to governing.

The Republican candidates each have their own sign. Lawns around town have anywhere from one to four Republican signs. The Skaneateles Party candidates have collaborated on a single sign with all three candidates names displayed together.

We need more cooperation with local government partners — including the town, village and county. Pension obligations and health care costs have strained budgets. With precious few untapped efficiencies available, communication, cooperation and leadership are critical to bringing costs down through shared resources.

Our lovely lake and walkable village make Skaneateles a special place. I believe the Skaneateles Party team will do more than just talk about smart growth and long-term lake protection, they will walk that talk. On Nov. 5, I am voting for the team that does more with less: Sennett, Brace and Howard.
