Liverpool girls volleyball beats West Genny in five sets

C-NS girls, boys sides also pick up late-season wins

A 25-14, 25-12, 25-13 sweep of Corcoran followed on Thursday night, the Northstars getting six kills from Elizabeth Miles, five kills from Hannah Millias and four kills from Kullman, who set the tone with eight aces. Millias and Frankie Gleason each had 11 digs as Hess (10 assists), Eymer (five assists) and Jess Doran (three assists) shared back-line duties.

Meanwhile, the C-NS boys volleyball team had a pair of matches to work through, including last Monday’s 25-14, 25-16, 25-17 sweep over the combined Syracuse city squad.

Morgan Austen and Josh Rodriguez each finished with 11 kills, with Austen adding five aces. Andrew Boczyk had four kills and two blocks, with Robert Palucci and Luke Barnell each gaining six digs. Aaron Goodell anchored the back line with 22 assists as Sean Korbas picked up three kills.

C-NS also met Central Square, splitting the first two sets, but then completely dominating the third and fourth sets on the way to a 25-21, 19-25, 25-12, 25-11 victory over the Red Hawks.

Rodriguez improved to 18 kills, with Palucci managing 10 kills to go with his 15 digs. Boczyk earned 11 kills and Austen contributed eight kills in front of Goodell, who did most of the back-line work with 30 assists as Garrett Coleman only had seven assists.

Liverpool had to host Baldwinsville last Wednesday and won the first set 25-19, only to have the Bees win the second set 25-16 and, in the pivotal third set, fend off some key Liverpool chances to win it 27-25 before a 25-20 fourth set closed it out.

Dalton Horton finished with 27 assists, feeding it to Joe Kenney, who managed 16 kills to go with five aces, three blocks and four digs. Brendan Corp added six kills and Anthony Calabrese picked up 13 digs. Ryan Turner added three kills as, for B’ville, Pat Dubiel (48 assists), Dalton Mahan (14 kills) and Delsean Griffith (11 kills) led their effort.

Liverpool lost on Thursday to Horseheads, winning the first set 25-16 and nearly getting the second set, too, but falling apart from that point as the visitors won the last three sets 28-26, 25-16 and 25-22. Kenney had 14 kills, four aces and four digs, with Corp adding nine kills. Horton put together 32 assists as Calabrese contributed eight digs.
