To the editor:
Tip O’Neill said all politics are local. They don’t get more local than in the town of Spafford. Grass roots. As our country languishes in the despicable morass of U.S. congressional back-biting and in-fighting, “We, the People of the United States,” as the politicians like to refer to us, are forced to endure their selfish ineptitude as they choose themselves over us.
Term limits might not be the panacea to sweep all our political troubles away, but it would be a good start. Career politicians were never in the minds of our forefathers, but somehow the careerists found a way to stay on the dole, and they not only have done so very well, but have succeeded in torturing us and our country with their greed.
Spafford candidates for election: unless you publicly endorse term limits in our town and promise to create them, do not ask for my support.
Spafford residents: It starts with us. If we don’t do it, our children and grandchildren will inherit our current government and worse.
