B’ville swimmers stay unbeaten, edge Auburn

Sidroakis, Staso both double winners for Bees

— Even though it knows that the toughest meets of the season still lay ahead, the Baldwinsville girls swim team did not neglect any of the preliminary steps it needed to take to make those contests count even more.

Meeting Auburn in Tuesday night’s home opener, the Bees swept the relays and claimed most of the individual events, too, to overcome the Maroons’ depth and prevail by a score of 47-44 to move to 4-0 on the season.

To get it going, B’ville’s 200 medley relay team of Samantha Sidorakis, Brooke Atkinson, Alexandra Connor and Kathryn Lindovski posted a time of 2:02.30 to win that event.

From there, Sidorakis went to the 100 freestyle and covered t in 58.99 seconds to win that race, and then added a second individual victory in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 1:05.96.

Atkinson, swimming in the 200 individual medley, prevailed in 2:26.84, while Connor needed 1:04.34 to take first place in the 100 butterfly.

But it was Noelle Staso anchoring the rest of B’ville’s winning effort. She started with a solid winning time of 2:07.19 in the 200 freestyle, and then went to the longest race, the 500 freestyle, and pulled away for another victory in 5:39.61.

Staso also took part in the other relays. First, she paired with Connor, Lindovski and Lauren Guild as B’ville won a thrilling 200 freestyle relay, edging Auburn, 1:50.41 to the Maroons’ 1:50.58. Then, in the closing 400 freestyle relay, Sidorakis returned, joining Staso, Guild and Amanda Johnson for the Bees as it prevailed in 4:08.49.

B’ville’s last tune-up before the tough stretch comes next Tuesday, against visiting Cicero-North Syracuse, before a big Oct. 11 showdown with Liverpool.
