Matt DeLaney is the new Manlius Library director. Pat Infantine stepped down from the position in August after 24 years. DeLaney previously served as director of the Tully Free Library.
continued DeLaney cited the central location of the library, the large amount of space, dedicated staff and community partnerships as things that set the library apart from others and make it a great place to work. One of the partnerships that he’s most impressed with is that with the Manlius Senior Centre, located next to the library in the village center. DeLaney said that to him, the “Informed and Shared Discussion” series put on by the senior centre is the perfect model for a library program.
“Two organizations come together with some overlap in their vision – what they want to offer to the community,” DeLaney said. “We provide the space and the center brings in the speakers. It’s great to walk in and see all these conversations and connections already happening.”
And for DeLaney, the most important part of any library is the staff that works there.
“The staff drives everything, and the Manlius staff is great,” he said. “I’m looking forward to working with people that are really dedicated to Manlius and the patrons that come through here.”
