continued Current Cazenovia College senior associate director of athletics, head men’s baseball coach and former player under Liddell, Pete Way, described his former coach as “A player’s coach.” Liddell, according to Way, “went out of his way to create the tradition and family atmosphere of Cazenovia College baseball. Coach Liddell would do anything he could to create the best opportunities for each player, from working on the field in order to get a game in on a rainy day or giving different players opportunities to prove that they could help the team on the field.”
Way said he remembers Liddell as a coach with a drive to help players who were having a tough time off the field as well as on, teaching them life lessons that helped their futures.
Asked to reflect on his time in Cazenovia, Liddell said, “I have many close friends from my days here. Having grown up in Cazenovia and being a Laker alumnus are things I’m very proud of. I’ve had some great teachers, coaches and colleagues from the area who were very influential in my becoming an educator.”
Liddell currently serves as the director of athletics and assistant professor at Cayuga Community College.
