continued “We’ve also had some people who own rental properties who are using us and have put in several of their properties’ addresses,” Doolittle added.
Plowz has been available for download since Nov. 8 and has more than 1,000 users – and counting. Mahoney said that since then, they’ve been listening carefully to customers’ feedback and are rolling out an update for the app within the next week.
And while some people may grumble about the earlier snowfall this year, Mahoney couldn’t be happier. In his eyes, the large annual Syracuse snowfall makes it the best possible place to launch this new service.
“Syracuse is the perfect market – you know it’s going to snow here,” he said. “Whereas in Boston, for example, they might get three snowstorms a year. We knew we would be able to test this product early, and if it works well, we will be able to scale pretty quickly.”
Plowz is already looking into moving towards the Rochester market in early 2014 and eventually hopes to make the move to be available nationwide. “I think that expanding is not going to be as difficult as getting off the ground,” Mahoney said.
Currently, Plowz is available for iPhone, iPad, Android and Android tablets in the Apple iTunes Store and Google Play marketplace. The app is now available for residents of Syracuse, Auburn, Baldwinsville, Cazenovia, Cicero, DeWitt, Fayetteville, Manlius, Minoa, Skaneateles and Weedsport.
