To the editor,
As town supervisor-elect and town councilwomen-elect, we would like to express our gratitude to Skaneateles citizens for your participation in this past election. Voter turnout was high, especially for a non-presidential election, and that means that much interest and enthusiasm was generated by the campaigning! Local issues were dominant, and national party affiliations became less important, as it should be at the local level. It was a privilege for each of us to participate in this democratic process; in turns inspiring, exciting, heartwarming and humbling.
As we take office in January we hope that each of you will sustain your interest in participating in your town government. We hope you will come to board meetings, make your ideas known to us in conversation, email or phone calls. Your input will help us set the priorities for the future. Our campaign was a success but the true measure of success will be your continued involvement. We thank you for your support — now let’s continue to work together.
